Longline Fishing Kills Indiscriminately

November 1, 2013 Leave a comment Go to comments

Longline fishing kills and discards more Atlantic bluefin tuna than any other section of the fishing industry. Instead of further limiting the number of bluefin tuna that can be killed and discarded by this method, the National Marine Fisheries Services is looking to expand that quota by 85%!

Bluefin tuna, along with such species as billfish, sharks, sea turtles and whales, won’t be able to withstand this. The bluefin has already been overfished to dangerously low levels!

Tell the NMFS that this management plan will cause unnecessary harm to delicate oceanic life. Instead, NMFS needs to adopt a plan to help sea creatures thrive!
