Wild animals in circuses consultation now live‏

January 22, 2014 Leave a comment Go to comments

Today the Scottish Government released it’s much anticipated public consultation on the use of wild animals in circuses.

Scotland for Animals would like to congratulate our friends in England for pushing this issue to the centre of decision making in Westminster and pushing for a vote in the UK parliament which went in favour of a ban . This has effectively forced the hand of the Scottish Govt. who now need to go from disinterest to jumping on the bandwagon to avoid the embarrassment of being left behind on change.

We have until April 16th to submit views to please click here to read and complete the consultation. Alternatively you can also simply email your points to this address AnimalWelfareConsultations@scotland.gsi.gov.uk

While a ban on wild animals is welcome almost no circuses which operate in the UK include these. What they do show though are horses, dogs, birds, etc who are in equal danger of abuse and misery so please include that you:

*Agree with a ban on wild animals

*You wish to see this as the first step towards a ban on the use of all animals in circuses
