Spread the Word: Help Protect Millions of Pigs & Chickens‏

January 26, 2014 Leave a comment Go to comments

Over 56,000 Care2 members have asked the EU to stop investing in agribusinesses that contribute to the suffering of millions of animals. Thank you so much for being one of them.

Together, we can urge the EU to extend its animal welfare standards to agribusiness investments as well. Will you ask your friends to help by signing the petition, too?

Extending these standards will make a huge difference for these animals, local farmers, and the environment, and we can help make this happen. Will you help us spread the word? You can send an email to your friends and family, share the petition on Facebook, and send this tweet to ask your network to support the cause.

Here’s a quick message you can copy and send to rally support:

Hi –

Despite many promises to stop the practice, EU banks and credit agencies are still investing in agribusinesses that contribute to the suffering of millions of animals. From confining pigs in tiny sow crates, to packing chickens in battery cages, these businesses are capitalizing on animal suffering and making products that are prohibited under EU animal welfare standards.

This is hurting local EU farmers who are trying to do the right thing, as well as contributing to the suffering and inhumane slaughter of millions of farm animals. Agribusinesses should be expected to follow the same animal welfare standards as local farmers! That’s why I signed the petition telling the EU to stop investing in animal suffering, and I’m hoping you will too. Here’s the link:

Thanks!
