Virgin: Stop Promoting Whale and Dolphin Shows!‏

I’m sure you’ve heard how abusive and cruel even the best whale and dolphin shows can be. The fact is that whales and dolphins are intelligent, sensitive animals — and no tank where they’re forced to perform tricks will be adequate to replace the families many of them have been torn away from or the friends they don’t have.

Because of that, some travel companies, including TUI, a huge corporation based in Germany, have stopped offering tickets to whale and dolphin shows as part of their packages. Not so for the mega-corporation Virgin, though: the multinational conglomerate has continued to offer tickets to Sea World and Georgia Aquarium through its “excursions” options on Virgin Holidays.

In the past, Virgin’s CEO, Richard Branson, has spoken out at length about the travesties of whale and dolphin hunting. So why doesn’t he care about the welfare of those animals trapped in captivity?

Let’s call on Branson and his company to stop enabling the suffering of more whales and dolphins every year. Ask Virgin to stop promoting whale and dolphin shows!
