BBC uses your money to support animal exploitation

I know that you will be as shocked and disappointed as we were to discover that the BBC has been using the public’s licence fees to pay a circus-linked company to provide “wild animal actors” for a new drama due to air on Tuesday of next week.

The new series, which charts the history of Chester Zoo, features a number of wild animals including monkeys, a bear, snakes, a camel and a pelican. All of the animals were, we found, hired from an animal entertainment company.

And it is not just any company that the public institution has chosen to hire, but one whose name may well be familiar to you: Amazing Animals. This is the company which was exposed by CAPS and our friends at LionAid for training young UK-born lion cubs and sending them to join a circus in Japan, where they remain today. It is also the same company which provided the young bear cubs to be used as part of the “entertainment” at the Enstone Show just last weekend.

Our concerns have, this morning, been reported in the national press. We now need your help to put pressure on the BBC to end its use of performing wild animals.
