Denmark Takes Steps to Ban the Sexual Use of Animals

November 6, 2014 Leave a comment Go to comments

In Denmark, the sexual use of animals is still legal. Care2 member Miljana Djukanovic started a petition demanding that Denmark pass a law to ban bestiality. As she writes, “the absence of such a law has led not only to people engaging in sex with animals, but even to the creation of ‘animal brothels’ where people pay to have sex with animals.” More than 114,000 people have signed Miljana’s petition. Denmark’s Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dan Jorgensen, has taken notice of people’s outrage. In October, he proposed an amendment to Denmark’s Animal Welfare Act under which bestiality would be considered — as it already is in many other places — a crime. Keep up the pressure: Sign the petition to make the sexual use of animals illegal in Denmark.
