The Supreme Court Upholds California’s Foie Gras Ban

In 2012, California’s anti-foie gras law went into effect. Foie gras — made by force-feeding geese and ducks via a tube inserted down their throats — can no longer be produced in the state, nor can it be sold in restaurants. A restaurant group in southern California challenged the law, threatening to bring this cruel practice back to the state. But animal rights activists rallied to keep foie gras out of California — and won! This October, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld California’s foie-gras ban. Did you know that French chefs are trying to get permission to force-feed and drown endangered songbirds? Sign the petition to protect the endangered ortolan from this horrific practice.
