Greyhounds welfare demo

January 19, 2015 Leave a comment Go to comments

Every year, at the end of January, the British Greyhound Industry organises an awards gala evening at a posh hotel to congratulate themselves on the profits they have achieved on the backs of the suffering of greyhounds, who are often shivering meanwhile in cold kennels while these fatcats wine and dine themselves in luxury hotel surroundings.

Please be aware that this demo aims to be above all a PEACEFUL demonstration. Please respect the following rules:

Under no circumstances must anyone enter the hotel property or stray onto the hotel grounds

Safety first – Do not obstruct pathways, or stand in the road, this is illegal.

Avoid standing in front of informative banners, images work best especially when people don’t want or don’t have time to read the leaflets straightaway.

Be polite under all circumstances, NEVER make personal or rude comments to people.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUNG CHILDREN OR DOGS TO THE EVENT, as the racing industry likes to use this as proof that anti racers are irresponsible. If you must bring them, then please make it your priority to keep them safe, well away from large crowds and the roadside and please ensure they are well catered for while at the demonstration, warmth and drinking water available where necessary. We would advise you NOT to bring dogs to the event at all, and definitely not dogs that may be frightened by noise or traffic, etc
